I think in the beginning of thinking about the name, the feeling I had was - I don’t want to put people in boxes or labels.
We get judged constantly. Whether you’re walking down the street, whether you’re in the fashion week spotlight, whether you’re just taking the train, people are always looking at you. So I thought hmmm, how do i express this idea that - you can be anything without scaring you?
So then I thought, Silhouettes…Shadows, it’s a reflection of a certain form, but it becomes whatever you want it to be. It can move with you, stretch and shrink, change with the sun and darkness. They’re kinda proof you’re here, even when you don’t necessarily want to feel seen.
A silhouette isn't a verdict. It isn’t a secret. It isn't an final product. They’re just ways to move through the world while you figure it out.
the shade to be yours,
the shift to be yours.
Let it be different today than it was last week. Let it hold your hopes, dreams & doubts without asking you to choose.
And when these moving shapes overlap: yours, mine, strangers passing...the outline stops being just one person. It becomes a shared chaos, a shared geometry, a big wizzy shape, a kind of open square where everyone belongs for a minute.
Creating a new negative space. New possibilities. Not necessarily fitting into one place. Contrasting thoughts makes harmony. In art, we’ve always known this: light only feels like light because there’s shadow (hello, chiaroscuro!). Colour wakes up when it’s painted with a complementary pair. Tradition sits across from technology. So, PLAZÄ can never be pigeon-holed to one kind of person, one age, one place or time. The tension/collision/differences doesn’t cancel us... it composes us.
That open square is our name. The space built by many outlines, held by everyone who steps in who wishes to represent their individuality and truths. That’s PLAZA.
In terms of what to expect as a fashion brand, collections tell different stories, each release is small and intentionally evolving, meant to meet you in the in-between.
Come as you are; change as you need.
PLAZA — where silhouettes meet.
